Utah Jazz Preview

The Jazz have won their last two games, both of which have been over the New Orleans Pelicans. In their last one, they defeated the Pelicans 114-112 and rookie Keyonte George added a season-high 19 points to push them along.

They are currently fourth in the Northwest Division and 12th overall in the Western Conference. They will be without leading scorer Lauri Markkanen (23.7 PPG) for this matchup, which will force other players to pick up the slack on offense.

The Jazz rank 13th in the league for scoring 114.2 points per game. Their efficiency with the ball to land scoring opportunities ranks 15th, with a rating of 113.6. If they can find a way to maintain these numbers without Markkanen, they will be tough to beat.

They give up 120.6 points per game, which ranks 25th in the league. Their efficiency on defense is one of the worst in the league (29th) with a rating of 119.9. In other words, if they have trouble scoring in this game, their defense is likely not going to help them maintain their shot at winning.

Memphis Grizzlies Preview

The Grizzlies have lost their last four games, as they have averaged 94.3 points and allowed 110.5. Their recent defeat was a performance of 119-97 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, which also marked their third blowout in a row.

They rank fourth in the Southwest Division and are 14th overall in the West. Desmond Bane is still leading the charge offensively with 23.6 points per game and shooting 44.2 percent from the field. In the last two matchups against the Jazz, the Grizzlies have allowed 130.0 points and have scored 115.0.

The Grizzlies are the second worst team in the league on offense, as they average 105.6 points per game. Their efficiency on offense in getting quality looks and taking care of the ball ranks the worst (30th) and has a rating of 105.6. This will need to change for this matchup, which has a good chance since the Jazz are one of the worst defenses in the league.

Defensively, they rank 19th in the league for 114.1 points allowed each game. Their defensive efficiency ranks 16th with a rating of 114.1. Without Markkanen for the Jazz, this could be in favor of the Grizzlies defense.
