San Jose Sharks Preview

The Sharks have lost their last four consecutive games, which have all been on the road. Their most recent defeat was a 5-2 outing against the Chicago Blackhawks, marking their third straight game in allowing four or more goals to their opponents.

Their offense will likely not improve this late in the season, but they have Fabian Zetterlund leading in goals with 18 this season. In addition, Mikael Granlund leads with 44 points and 35 assists to help offer a boost in this regard.

The Sharks are only getting about 2.19 goals and take 25.7 shots a game. Surprisingly, their power play percentage is appealing at 20.6 despite scoring just 34 goals and allowing 55 in those moments.

Even with their offense struggling, their defense is arguably worse. They are allowing opponents to score 3.93 goals and take 35.1 shots on them each game. Their penalty kill percentage is a bright spot, as they have it at 74.2 and nearly on par with the Predators’.

Nashville Predators Preview

The Predators have battled on the road in their last four straight games, going 3-1 and are currently on a two-game win streak. Their previous success was a 4-1 performance over the Seattle Kraken and marked their second straight game of scoring four goals.

Their first meeting against the Sharks was back in October of last year, where the Predators won 5-1 at home. Their most recent battle with them was a bit closer at 4-2 in favor of the Predators back in February. They will seek out Filip Forsberg, who leads with 71 points and 35 goals.

The Predators average 3.19 goals and are shooting 31.4 shots to get there. Their power plays have been solid, as they have scored 46 goals and allowed 49 with a power play percentage at 20.1. Compared to their defense, they have a razor thin margin of error each game.

Their defense gives up 3.00 goals and 30.3 shots to opponents. Luckily for them, the Sharks are not that great on offense. Their penalty kill percentage could provide some relief, as it stands at 76.3.
