Bettors have another great opportunity for MLB betting in Tennessee, as the finale of a four-game divisional series is approaching soon between the Washington Nationals (50-65) and Philadelphia Phillies (63-52). While the Phillies lead 2-1, can the Nationals steal another win on the road?

When: Game 4 on August 10, 2023 at 6:40 PM ET

Where: Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Washington Nationals Preview

The Nationals are currently last in the NL East by 23.5 games behind the leading Atlanta Braves. Despite not having a shot to make the playoffs this year, they can still cause problems against other teams wanting to make changes for the playoffs (just like the Phillies). Patrick Corbin is looking to shake things up on the mound for game four, but is 7-11 this year (ERA 5.03, WHIP 1.50).

They appear to have a good opportunity at the plate, with a batting average of .257. However, they allow their opponents to average a .270, which is likely the cause for their issues this season.

Despite having good opportunities at the place, they are on the lower side of getting on base with a .317 on-base percentage. In addition, their pitching is a cause for concern with an ERA of 4.91, which will likely have an impact on this game.

The Nationals have gone 6-4 over their last 10 games against respectable teams. They are 28-31 on the road and 62-47 as the underdog with their run line.

Philadelphia Phillies Preview

The Phillies need every win they can get to stay within a modest reach of the Braves, as they are currently 10.5 games back in second. They have gone 4-1 over their previous five games and must finish this series out strong. Aaron Nola gets the start at pitcher and is 9-8 this year (4.58 ERA, 1.14 WHIP).

They are essentially the same at the plate as the Nationals, with a .256 batting average. They do a good job at slowing down other teams, as they allow a .240 from their opponents.

Their on-base percentage is slightly better at .322, but shows they have the slightest improvement of getting on base in comparison to the Nationals. Their ERA is also more likable at 3.98, which will be key to this outcome.

The Phillies have gone 7-3 over their last 10 games and need to continue earning tough wins to close in on the division lead. They are 32-22 at home and 30-48 as the favorite with their run line.
