Memphis Grizzlies Preview

The Grizzlies have been rejuvenated since the return of Ja Morant. They have won their last three games, which ironically started against the New Orleans Pelicans with Morant having 34 points and the game winner. Their most recent win was a 125-119 showing over the Atlanta Hawks, where Morant added 30 to help them reach victory.

Since Morant’s return, he has averaged 28 points and the Grizzlies have won three consecutive. Desmond Bane still leads the team with 25.1 points per game and is shooting 46.5 percent from the floor. The duo have helped the team be a force on the offensive end, which is exactly what they need.

The Grizzlies will need some time to recover their stats on offense, as they currently rank last with 107.0 points per game. In their last three games with Morant, they are averaging 118.6 each game. Their efficiency on the offensive end ranks second to last (29th) with a rating of 107.5.

However, their defense will likely help keep them within reach in a variety of games. They are allowing 112.4 points from opponents and rank ninth. Their efficiency on the defensive end ranks seventh, with a rating of 112.8.

New Orleans Pelicans Preview

The Pelicans have gone 3-2 in their last five matchups. Their most recent experience was a 106-104 defeat to the Houston Rockets. Zion Williamson added 28 points, but was unable to push them to victory.

Brandon Ingram leads the Pelicans in both points (23.1) and assists (5.3) each game. Williamson is also not far behind with 22.3 points a game, making the two former Blue Devils a threat for any team to face.

The Pelicans are averaging 115.7 points each game and rank 13th in the league. Their efficiency with the basketball ranks 16th, with a 116.1 rating. Against an improved Grizzlies team, they are in for a scoring fight.

They are allowing teams to average 113.3 points per game and rank 13th overall. They also have a defensive efficiency rating at 113.7, ranking them 11th. They must find better scoring opportunities against a respectable defense from the Grizzlies.
