Washington Commanders Preview
The Commanders arguably had one of their ugliest losses of the season. This was a 40-20 defeat against the Chicago Bears, who were previously winless through four games. In addition, the Commanders are now on a three-game losing streak and must regroup after an embarrassing defeat.
Their struggles started when they faced the Buffalo Bills a few weeks back, as their 37-3 defeat was alarming to say the least. They nearly had their season back on track against the Philadelphia Eagles in their next matchup, but they struggled to seal the deal in the 34-31 overtime defeat.
They are third in the NFC East and have been averaging 21.8 points per game. Unfortunately, their defense has allowed 32.0 points a game from their opponents. They must find a way to stop the bleeding, as their recent loss to the Bears was their best shot.
While their season seems to be crumbling at their feet, they have an appealing opportunity. However, they will need an outstanding performance from their defense and QB Sam Howell (6 TD, 6 INT) who has a QBR of 48.3 (18th in league).
Atlanta Falcons Preview
The Falcons were finally able to stop their two-game losing skid against the Houston Texans. In this 21-19 victory, they were able to have a burst of offense that they had not experienced in their last two games. They eventually finished it off with a last-second field goal.
In their prior two games before their matchup against the Texans, the Falcons faced the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions. They were only able to put up seven and six points, respectively, in those games. For once, it was appealing to see them find their offensive rhythm, thanks to an appealing performance from QB Desmond Ridder (4 TD, 3 INT, QBR 42.8) who landed a touchdown without any interceptions in that game.
So far, the Falcons have moved into the second spot in the NFC South. They have been averaging 16.6 points per game and their defense has not been the worst for most of the season, as they have allowed 19.2 points per contest. If their offense can find ways to thrive, they should be in good shape to handle a struggling Commanders team at home.
