Vanderbilt Commodores Preview

The Commodores have lost their last nine games and are at risk of not winning another game to finish out this season. Their most recent defeat was a 47-6 blowout against the South Carolina Gamecocks, with the Commodores only scoring a touchdown and a failed PAT in the fourth quarter.

Despite the losing streak, they had some respectable battles this year as they took on the SEC East. Most notably was their 37-20 defeat to the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs, which was closer than many expected.

The Commodores currently average 22.7 points a game, which puts them at 100th in the nation. Their defense allows 35.1 points from opponents, ranking them 126th. This is a tough ratio to overcome when entering games against good offensive teams.

The senior quarterback Ken Seals (10 TD, 4 INT) has put together 1,122 yards since taking over for AJ Swann. His QBR is at 38.2, ranking him 114th among other QB’s in the nation and completing 57.6 percent of his passes. This will likely be his final test for the Commodores, so expect a quality game from him.

Tennessee Volunteers Preview

The Volunteers had an opportunity to knock off the top-ranked and undefeated Georgia Bulldogs in their last matchup. However, they came up short in a 38-10 blowout at home. Joe Milton III added 147 yards and completed 17-30 passes.

They are plenty of games ahead of the Commodores in the SEC East standings, but they have gone 3-4 in conference play and need to break their losing streak. This is the perfect opportunity for them to finish out their conference battles on a high note.

Their stats show they rank within the top-50 for both sides of the ball. Currently, they average 30.0 points a game (49th) and allow 21.8 points from opponents (43rd). These numbers put them at a good advantage to find success, which has mostly been the case this season.

Milton III (16 TD, 5 INT) has obtained 2,430 yards and is a senior, so fans will likely be seeing his last performance here. He has a QBR at 67.1, ranking him at 42nd in the nation and he has completed 64.5 percent of his passes this year.
