Vancouver Canucks Preview
The Canucks have won twice against the Predators in both of their meetings this season and have allowed them to only score two goals per game. Over their last five games heading into this matchup, the Canucks have gone 4-1. Their most recent event was a 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
J.T. Miller currently leads them in both points (45) and assists (30), but also has (13) goals spread throughout many of their games. Brock Boeser not only leads them with 23 goals, but is currently tied for first to be the scoring leader in the league.
The Canucks do well on offense, as they put up 3.75 goals on just 28.1 shots per game. This has also led to quality power play performances, with a percentage currently at 25.4 and just a bit higher than the Predators’.
Their defense has been excellent in slowing down opponents to 2.44 goals and 30.0 shots each game. This is a great separation between goals scored and allowed each game, which have typically given them chances to win. They have a solid penalty kill percentage around 76.0, which is on par with what the Predators are averaging.
Nashville Predators Preview
The Predators have also gone 4-1 over their last five games, but have won their last four heading into this competition. Their previous success was a 3-1 performance over the Washington Capitals, where they scored one goal per period to cap it off.
The Predators might be lost without Filip Forsberg, as he does a lot for them offensively. He currently leads the team in points (36), goals (16), and assists (20) and will once again be key in their potential success
They are averaging 3.16 goals and 30.1 shots each game. Their power play performances are nearly on par with the Canucks, with a percentage at 21.2. This could play a role in this game, especially if the Predators can be aggressive on those opportunities.
They are allowing 3.03 goals and 30.8 shots per contest. Compared to their offense, they have a small window for their margin of safety. Their penalty kill percentage is similar in comparison to the Canucks, which should help in those moments.
