Utah Jazz Preview
The Jazz are coming off of a 134-118 defeat to the Indiana Pacers, marking their fourth-consecutive defeat. The fourth quarter turned disastrous, as they only put up 20 points compared to the Pacers’ 33 and ultimately made the biggest difference in the game.
The Northwest Division has the Jazz currently at fifth and 14th overall in the Western Conference. They will attempt to improve with nearly a full roster, as Walker Kessler (8.3 PPG, 7.9 REB) is their only player out of the lineup.
Offensively, they are 17th in the league with 112.4 points per game. Their efficiency handling the rock and getting scoring opportunities ranks 16th with a rating of 111.7. This is not bad, but not great, as the consistently hover around the middle of the league on offense.
On defense, they limit their opponents to 121.7, ranking 27th in the league. Their defensive efficiency rating is at 120.8, which comes in at 29th. They essentially live and die by their offense, as their defense is one of the worst in the league.
Memphis Grizzlies Preview
After securing their first win of the season, the Grizzlies simply had another in their 108-102 defeat against the Miami Heat. The Grizzlies had a strong third quarter, but were unable to close the gap in the fourth.
They still remain fifth in the Southwest Division and the worst team in the West. On top of that, they have two players out (not including Ja Morant) and three that are a game time decision. Most notably for a game time decision is Ziaire Williams (9.1 PPG, 6.1 REB).
Despite keeping some of their games close, the Grizzlies have some of the worst offense in the league. They average 107.5 points a game (28th) and they have the worst efficiency rating in the league at 104.5. If they can find ways to flow better in their offense, they would have likely snagged a few more wins already.
Their defense is the only reason they have been able to keep games with each. They allow teams to average 114.1 points per contest (17th) and have an efficiency rating of 111.0 (13th). So worst case scenario if they lose, it might not be by much since their defense has shown to be consistent.
