UConn Huskies Preview

The Huskies nearly had another opportunity at their second win of the season, but came up short against the Boston College Eagles in a 21-14 performance. This marks their second loss in a row and bad momentum heading into this matchup that could turn sour fast against a ranked opponent.

Despite their bad record, the recent defeat was their fourth loss under seven points. Imagine if these matchups went their way, then this would be a much better season.

Their offense has struggled to find yards and points, as they average 315.9 total yards and average 19.8 points per game. Defensively, they allow 404.5 total yards and give up 29.9 points per game. This differential will be a factor against the Vols.

Quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson (8 TD, 3 INT) has had a solid season despite their struggles with 1,275 yards. He also ranks 125th in the nation with a QBR of 30.8, but must have a tremendous effort to give them a shot to contend.

Tennessee Volunteers Preview

The Volunteers were able to get back on track with a win recently after their loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide a couple of games back. Their latest performance was a 33-27 outing over the Kentucky Wildcats, which was a tough road test to see if they can continue their SEC dominance.

Their recent win still has them as the third best team in the SEC East. The Vols need an easier game on the record to help fine-tune their team, with this being a great opportunity, before any serious contention in bowl games or playoffs happen at the end of the season.

The Vols continue to show good signs on offense, with 443.5 total yards each game and 31.8 points per game. They also do well defensively, as they allow their opponents to average 327.5 total yards a game and 20.4 points per contest. This will be key in their ability to close out this game.

QB Joe Milton III (13 TD, 4 INT) could have a breakout game here that might give him a confidence boost for the rest of the season. While he has 1,763 yards, he is currently 46th in the nation with a QBR of 66.0. If the Vols not only want to win by a good margin and have success the rest of the year, they must have him perform at a high level.
