Tennessee Volunteers Preview
The Vols overwhelmingly took care of the UConn Huskies 59-3 in their last matchup. The closest this game ever occurred was at the start of the game when it was 0-0, as the Vols wasted no time in getting out to a 14-3 lead to end the first quarter.
They are currently on a two-game win streak and aiming for another in this fierce upcoming competition. They are also sitting at the second spot in the SEC East, so anything that can help them stay on top will be needed.
They have some of the best offensive and defensive performances this year. On offense, they average 34.8 points per game, which ranks 23rd in the nation. Defensively, they allow teams to score 18.4 points per game (21st), showing a positive differential between the two.
Quarterback Joe Milton III (15 TD, 4 INT) padded his stats a bit against the Huskies, throwing two touchdowns and completing just 11 passes before he rested the remainder of the game. He now boasts 2,017 yards and carries a QBR of 69.1, ranking him 33rd in the nation.
Missouri Tigers Preview
The Tigers nearly stunned the best team in the nation, the Georgia Bulldogs, but came up short in a 30-21 defeat. An interception late in the game cost the Tigers their final opportunity to take the lead, while the Bulldogs scored field goals in the fourth quarter.
They are currently tied for second in the division with the Vols and need this game to separate them further apart. After their strong performance against the Bulldogs, they arguably have the swagger to compete well here.
On offense they have appealing numbers compared to the Vols, as they average 32.4 points per game (36th). Their defense will need to improve for this matchup, as they allow 24.0 points per game (54th). Separating the gap further would do them well, especially since the Vols already do a good job at that.
QB Brady Cook (16 TD, 5 INT) completed 46.7 percent of his passes against the Bulldogs, which is impressive against a swarming defense. However, his two interceptions were costly in their loss. He has put up 2,471 yards and tanks 18th nationally with a QBR of 77.4.
