St. Louis Cardinals Preview

The Cardinals have won two out of their last three games and seek out a second consecutive win in this series. Their latest win was a 6-2 outing in game one of this series, where the Cardinals started off strong with three runs in the top of the first inning.

Wilson Contreras, along with Brendan Donovan, each landed two-run homers throughout the game to help push their offense along. Their batting average has not been appealing to start the season, but they appear to be headed in the right direction.

The Cardinals have been averaging .213 at the plate and allowing their opponents to do better with a batting average at .268. Miles Mikolas will be on the mound, but currently has an ERA of 10.38 and a WHIP at 2.08.

They currently boast an on base percentage at .272, a slugging percentage at .299, and have landed just three home runs so far. If their offense can step it up and show more consistency like they did in game one, they will be a dangerous team.

San Diego Padres Preview

The Padres have lost three out of their last four games, with the recent loss putting them back on the wrong track. Prior to their recent defeat, they defeated the San Francisco Giants 13-4 and had scored 12 runs in their first three innings.

Luis Campusano and Ha-Seong Kim each had three-run home runs to kick things off. However, that offense did not carry over into their first matchup with the Cardinals. Yu Darvish (1.04 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) will be on the mound and will give them a competitive edge.

The Padres are putting up .281 at the plate, but are allowing their opponents to do better at .290. Compared to the Cardinals, they have landed 10 home runs versus their three and should have a slight edge here.

They typically do well in getting on base with a percentage at .353 and feature a slugging percentage at .471. While their offense is robust, they will need to work on slowing their opponents down from the mound.
