Pittsburgh Penguins Preview

The Penguins are 2-3 in their last five games and are aiming to improve here. They are moving on with a recent 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs and broke their previous two-game skid heading into that matchup.

Looking at their last five games, they have averaged 2.0 goals and allowed 2.0 goals from their opponents. At this rate, it makes sense why they are .500 on the season. Currently, they are sixth in the Metropolitan Division and need to have a breakout performance.

The Penguins are averaging 3.15 goals each game this season and are led by Sidney Crosby, who has 13 of their goals scored this year. He is tied for sixth in the league for most goals scored this year. In addition, their power play percentage is a bit lacking at 12.5 and could make an impact in this game.

They allow 2.60 goals a game from opposing teams. While this looks good now, they cannot seem to keep this at a consistent rate, as well as their offense. However, slowing the Predators down would be their best chance at success, as they need to maintain the flow of the game.

Nashville Predators Preview

The Predators have come alive and have won their last five games. Their most recent success story was a 3-2 performance over the Winnipeg Jets and also marked their fifth consecutive game scoring three goals or more.

Their outburst on offense has helped them reach the fifth spot in the Central Division. Over these last five games, they are averaging 4.6 goals and allowing 2.4, which is an insane improvement.

Based on their averages this season, they have been getting 3.35 goals a game. Flip Forsberg leads them with 11 goals scored, tied for 15th in the league. On top of that, they have a power play percentage at 20.7.

The Predators have allowed 3.20 goals a game this year from their opposition. Looking at their most recent five games, they appear to have found a system that works on both sides of the puck. If they can come out to a hot start, this game could be out of reach quickly for the Penguins.
