New England Patriots Preview

The Patriots are returning to action after a 21-17 victory over the Green Bay Packers in Week 2 of preseason play. They suspended the game a few minutes into the fourth, as agreed by both teams, as they carted CB Isaiah Bolden off with a head injury.

On average, they have gained 222.5 yards per game, with 135.5 yards originating from passing plays. Conversely, their defense has displayed inconsistency, as they have permitted a total of 310 yards, with 206 of those yards stemming from passing plays.

Their stats are arguably better than what they display on paper since they did not play most of the fourth quarter in their recent victory. However, their offense seems to be doing better after scoring 21 points in just three quarters in their recent win.

So far, they are averaging 20.5 points per game and allowing 13. They will also be using Bailey Zappe at quarterback again, who is shaping up to be an excellent backup for Mac Jones this year.

Tennessee Titans Preview

The Titans return home after a 24-16 win over the Minnesota Vikings last week. Malik Willis played the entire game great, as he rushed for 91 yards and was able to throw one touchdown.

Looking at their offense, they have slightly done better than the Patriots at 383 total yards a game, and 203.5 are for rushing. They also do a similar job defensively compared to the Patriots, allowing 317 total yards and 221.5 from passing.

The Titans have looked consistent in their running game so far in just two games. They are averaging 20.5 points a game and allowing 19.5, so not a lot of breathing room here, but they have managed to keep games within 7.5 points.

The biggest concerns for the Titans are whether or not their rushing game can continue to be effective and whether their defense holds. This last preseason performance is one more test before the regular season, so expect them to perform well.

Tennessee Titans: +115

Spread: +2.5 (-110)

New England Patriots: -135

Spread: -2.5 (-110)

Totals: Over 38 (-110), Under 38 (-110)

This will probably be a lower-scoring affair, as both teams average 20.5 points a game. The Titans have done well with their rushing, but the Patriots have also looked good with backup quarterback Bailey Zappe.
