NBA Finals Game 4 – Warriors @ Celtics
We were confident that the Celtics would easily win and cover in Game 3, and they did just that. However, a couple of late baskets sent the total over 212.5 as Boston cruised to a 116-100 victory on their home court. 1-for-2 on our bets – we will take it.
Now, with the Celtics commanding a 2-1 series lead and homecourt still to their advantage, our betting attention shifts to Game 4 tonight, where Boston is a -4 point favorite. If you read our last column, we have been executing the Zig-Zag theory for the NBA Finals in our betting – and it has worked for us thus far. That is why it should come as no surprise we are backing the Warriors to cover the spread tonight and win outright.
In Game 3, Boston erupted straight from the first tip. Though the Warriors cut it close and managed to take a short-lived lead in the 3rd, the Celtics could pull away in the 4th quarter, thanks to big games from Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who scored 27 and 26 points, respectively. Following a 2-point effort in Game 2, Marcus Smart bounced back to put up 24 points of his own, and Boston emerged as the victor.
In Game 4, expect the Warriors to shake off the loss and come out hot. Even though Steph Curry tweaked his foot toward the end of Game 3, he has been vocal that he intends to play tonight. Curry has been the Warriors’ most consistent player this entire series, and they will need him to be efficient from the 3-point if the Warriors want to win. After two subpar games, Klay Thompson also scored a valiant shooting effort in Game 3, scoring 25 points of his own. If he can duplicate his play, he could be the X-factor that propels the Warriors to victory.
While we like the Warriors to cover, we also like the Under for this matchup. The total currently is hovering around 214. Though we expect the Warriors to step up their scoring, we also predict the Celtics won’t see the same performances from Brown and Smart as they cashed in the last game.
Give us the Warriors +4 and the Under.
