Nashville Predators Preview

The Predators came out hot in the first period of action against the Calgary Flames in their last game, scoring two goals without an answer. However, they could not produce any more goals the rest of the game and gave up three alone in the third period to chalk up another 4-2 defeat.

Will the Predators break out of the seventh spot in the Central Division? Thirty recent struggles seem to continue piling up on both sides of the puck, as they have lost the last three out of four games and have failed to score over two goals in each loss.

Their solution would be to score over their current average of 2.83 goals a game. They have only lost one time this year when they have scored three goals or more, making this a priority for their offense to be aggressive over their 30.3 shot attempts.

On defense, they allow teams to average 3.00 goals. In each of their losses, their opponents have been able to compile three goals or more to earn the win and fire off 30.3 shot attempts. Slowing the Jets down will be crucial to their success.

Winnipeg Jets Preview

The Jets recently had a convincing 5-2 win over the St. Louis Blues, marking their second-straight victory. In this stretch, they are averaging five goals and allowing just 2.5, which is surprising to see based on their last handful of games leading up to this one.

They are a decent amount ahead of the Predators, as they are third in the division. Winning here would help boost their morale and guide them to a legitimate winning streak, which they need after experiencing a tough stretch of games lately.

Despite scoring five goals in their last two games, they do not typically reach that per contest. Instead, they average 3.42 goals per game and get off 32.8 shots. They will need to meet somewhere in the middle if they want to succeed.

Their defense as well has not been that good to hold teams at a low amount, as they allow teams to average 3.33 goals. Opponents are getting off 27.9 shot attempts, which could help them if they are able to limit the Predators scoring opportunities.
