Nashville Predators Preview

The Predators are 14-10-2 on the road and have an appealing opportunity to win. They are currently fifth in the Central Division and are coming off of a 5-2 win over the St. Louis Blues, snapping their two-game losing skid and going 2-3 in their last five matchups.

Filip Forsberg must make an impact early in the game, as he has accumulated 55 points and 26 goals this season. Roman Josi will need to be on par with Forsberg too, as he has earned 39 assists. The two will need to be a dynamic duo to have synergy and establish a lead.

The Predators maintain an average of 3.00 goals per game and take 31.0 shots to fuel their offense. Their power play percentage comes in at 19.4, scoring 37 goals and conceding 43, which could affect their offensive success.

Defensively, they allow an average of 3.26 goals and 30.6 shots, indicating challenges in winning battles compared to their offensive output. The penalty kill percentage is 75.4, which is slightly lower than the Golden Knights’.

Vegas Golden Knights Preview

The Golden Knights are 19-7-2 at home and are second in the Pacific Division. They are 3-2 in their last five games and are coming off a 4-0 blowout win over the San Jose Sharks, where they scored three of their goals in the first period alone.

They boast a few players that can contend against Forsberg and Josi. Mark Stone currently has 53 points and 37 assists, while Jonathan Marchessault leads their scoring with 28 goals. Together, they can cause issues for the Predators’ defense.

The Golden Knights boast a slightly more attractive offense than the Predators, averaging 3.15 goals and taking 31.1 shots per game. Their power play has been commendable, scoring 36 goals while allowing 29 power play goals and has resulted in a 19.6 power play percentage.

On the defensive end, they permit 2.69 goals and 30.4 shots per game. This is the biggest difference between the two teams and likely what will be the biggest factor in the game. With a penalty kill percentage of 80.7, it could play a pivotal role against the Predators.
