Nashville Predators Preview

The Predators just had a nail biter of a finish against the Toronto Maple Leafs when they won 3-2 in overtime. Predators’ Roman Josi was able to score the winning goal in overtime to push them to victory. This also put them back on the winning side after losing the Canucks in the previous matchup.

Their recent victory has them at fourth in the Central Division, which is right where they were a week ago. Instead of moving up, they essentially broke even in their games and have yet to make a difference in the standings. A win here would greatly boost their chances at improving in the division and to help set the tone for next month.

Their offense has improved somewhat compared to their strong defense. They have averaged 2.88 goals on 31.1 shot attempts. The Predators still need to find a way to be more aggressive and get more scoring opportunities, especially since the Canucks are efficient on offense.

The Predators have not been the best defensive team, but their stats show they consistently keep teams to a respectable standard. They allow 2.63 goals a game while giving up 29.0 shot attempts. If their offense struggles, at least their defense will keep them hanging around.

Vancouver Canucks Preview

The Canucks recently had their three-game win streak snapped when they faced the New York Rangers. This was a 4-3 overtime defeat that showed the Canucks aggressiveness in getting quality shot opportunities to keep it within reach.

Their success before the loss has helped move the Canucks into the second spot in the Pacific Division. During their win streak, they put up 13 goals and only gave up five, showing great offense in that stretch. Their offense will be tested again when facing a respectable defense from the Predators.

The Canucks have already beaten the Predators last week in a 3-2 showing, but they still have some work to do. They average 3.88 goals a game on 28.3 shot attempts. Despite the lower number of attempts, they might consider being more aggressive to have more goals each game.

Their defense shines through with allowing other teams to get off 30.6 shots and only average 2.38 goals a game. This will need to change against the Predators, as they do not need to allow too many shot opportunities.
