Nashville Predators Preview
The Predators enter this battle facing elimination, as they are trailing 3-1 in the series. Despite showing superiority in several instances, they have faltered too many times in key moments, particularly squandering leads. They recently led in Game 4 with a 3-1 advantage with less than three minutes remaining, but eventually lost in overtime 4-3.
Looking back at Game 1, they let go a 2-1 advantage in the third period, where they allowed two quick goals to end the game on a sour note. Similarly, in Game 3, they managed to earn just one goal despite playing well throughout.
Their recent track record is concerning, having lost nine of their last 14 games. They are averaging 2.50 goals per game, with a 6.7 percent success rate on power plays and an 81.8 percent effectiveness on penalty kills. While they have created numerous scoring opportunities in this series, converting them into goals is imperative for their survival.
Vancouver Canucks Preview
The Canucks have not displayed their peak performance in this series, yet they stand merely one victory away from advancing and securing some much-needed rest. They are a dangerous team in that regard, as they have not played to the best of their potential. If they can recreate magic from Game 1, this game is in their favor.
In Game 4, they opted for their third-string goaltender, with Demko and DeSmith sidelined due to injury and were still able to secure the win. Despite struggling to score goals, the Canucks have capitalized on their opportunities despite a limited number of shots on goal in comparison to the Predators.
They have excellent momentum, as they have won eight of their last 13 games and have allowed three goals or fewer in eight of those matchups. With an average of 2.75 goals per game, they have maintained an 18.2 percent success rate in power plays and an impressive 93.3 percent success on penalty kills.
Leading their offense for the Canucks in this series is J.T. Miller, who has accumulated one goal, five assists, and 10 shots on goal. Next in line is Brock Boeser, who has scored four crucial goals. Together, this duo has been a tough task for the Predators to handle late in the game.
