Nashville Predators Preview
The Predators have lost their last two consecutive games with the recent Game 1 defeat of 4-2 against the Canucks. They are 2-3 in their last five matches overall and have lost 4-2 in their last two battles.
While they have bad momentum coming into this game, their record on the road during the regular season was solid. They went 24-14-2 away from their home arena, which shows they have a decent opportunity ahead of them.
The Predators need to hit closer to their season averages, where they accumulated 3.24 goals on 32.2 shots a game. One area they could exploit against the Canucks is power plays, where they have a percentage at 21.6 as a result of their 58 goals scored and 57 allowed. Ryan O’Reilly landed a goal during a power play in Game 1, so the opportunity will likely be there again.
Their defense has hovered near 3.02 goals and 30.6 shots allowed from opponents. This does not offer much room for error, which means no mistakes can happen on the defensive end against the Canucks.
Vancouver Canucks Preview
The Canucks are 3-2 entering this matchup and look to have additional success in Game 2. They were able to overcome bad momentum from the game prior to Game 1, which was a 4-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets.
Their chances of success at home are appealing, especially since they posted a 27-9-5 record during the regular season. Dakota Joshua scored two goals and stood out offensively for them.
Their regular season averages are appealing for this matchup. They averaged 3.70 goals on 28.4 shots a game. Power plays were solid with a percentage at 22.6 from scoring 58 goals and giving up 53. However, they cannot afford to lose this battle to the Predators who will be actively trying to expose this area.
Their defense holds teams to 2.70 goals and 28.6 shots per game. When looking at their offense, they have a nice separation compared to their defense. They also provide a slightly higher penalty kill percentage at 79.1.
Betting Odds
ZenSports Tennessee sportsbook has the Canucks favored for success in Game 2. During the regular season, the Canucks won all three matchups against the Predators with an average score being 4.33 to 2.00, with Game 1 of this series hitting the nail on the head for goals.
