Nashville Predators Preview
The Predators are currently on a two-game winning streak and they are 3-2 in their last five matchups. Their previous win was a 6-4 performance against the Columbus Blue Jackets, where Roman Josi landed two goals and two assists. They have now scored five or more goals in their recent two wins.
This is another opportunity to have great momentum heading into the playoffs. Josi leads with 62 assists, while Filip Forsberg continues to be a threat offensively with 47 goals and 93 points.
The Predators are solid offensively with 3.26 goals and 32.2 shots attempted per game. This aggressive output should bode well in their chances at success. For power plays, they have a percentage at 21.6 since they have scored 58 goals and have allowed 56.
Defensively they could use some improvement, as they allow 3.01 goals and 30.5 shots per game. This shows a slight difference between their offense, which gives them an edge. Their penalty kill percentage is also solid at 77.0.
Pittsburgh Penguins Preview
The Penguins are 3-2 in their previous five encounters as well, but have stumbled as of late. Their most recent battle was a 6-4 loss against the Boston Bruins, where the Bruins took over and scored four goals in the second period. They have allowed four or more goals in the last two games despite winning one of them.
The Predators are solid on the road at 24-13-3, while the Penguins are at their best at home with a record at 22-14-4. Their offense revolves around Sidney Crosby, who leads them with 49 assists, 41 goals, and 90 points. Their offense will need a strong performance here and Crosby will need support to help keep up with the Predators.
The Penguins are getting 3.06 goals and taking 32.5 shots per game. Their power play performances have not been as appealing, as they have scored 37 times and allowed 45 with a power play percentage at 14.5.
Their defense gives up 3.01 goals and 30.2 shots a game from opposing teams. This shows they have no room for error when compared to their offense. Luckily, their penalty kill percentage comes in at 81.2 and it is slightly higher than the Predators.
Betting Odds
ZenSports Tennessee sportsbook has appealing NHL odds, which shows the Pittsburgh Penguins slightly favored to succeed. The last encounter between these two was back in November of last year, with the Penguins winning 3-2 in overtime.
