Nashville Predators Preview

The Predators were able to get a victory on the road recently against the Buffalo Sabres, winning 2-1. Juuse Saros was able to land 34 saves, while Filip Forsberg added his 13th goal of the season to lead them to victory.

They have finally made some progress with the recent win after losing their previous two games. They have gone 3-2 in their last five matchups and are currently sixth in the division. Forsberg has been a dominant force for them offensively, as he leads the team in points (28), goals (13), and assists 15).

One thing the Predators have been consistently good at this season is scoring. They are averaging 3.17 goals per contest and obtaining 31.2 shot attempts. They also have an edge over the Blackhawks when it comes to power plays, with a percentage at 19.1 compared to their 11.0.

The defense for this team has been plaguing them and taking away from their success on the offensive end. They are allowing opponents to average 3.21 goals, essentially breaking even, on 30.4 shots. Their penalty kill percentage is actually a hair lower than the Blackhawks, at 73.0 compared to their 75.0, which m the impact the game negatively for them.

Chicago Blackhawks Preview

The Blackhawks had an opportunity to defeat a weaker team based on record in their last matchup, but failed against the Minnesota Wild 4-1. In fact, they started the game off by allowing three unanswered goals in the opening period of action.

This also marked their third consecutive defeat and fourth loss overall in the last five games. Can they turn things around or will continue to hold down last place in the division?

They have been lacking a strong offense this season, averaging 2.43 goals on 27.5 shots. They have Connor Bedard leading the team in points (20), goals (11), and assists (9), but other players must step up.

Defensively, the Blackhawks have poor execution here too, giving up 3.70 goals on 32.8 shots. In power play situations, they have scored eight goals but have given up 19 total, which is something that they cannot afford to do here in those critical moments.
