Nashville Predators Preview
The Predators recently found success to snap their two-game losing streak. This was a 5-2 performance over the Edmonton Oilers, where the Predators were able to score three goals in the second period to help push them to victory.
Unfortunately, they are now sixth in the Central Division due to their recent struggles. This is a great opportunity for them to bounce back, especially against another struggling team. While the division may be difficult to climb, they should take it one game at a time and focus on this potential win.
They are essentially breaking even for their scoring output. They average 2.91 goals a game (20th best) and average 31.5 shots a game. Being more accurate and aggressive in their shot attempts could bode well for better scoring opportunities.
On defense, they allow opponents to average 2.91 goals per game (11th best) on 29.5 attempts. If they can find a way to increase their efficiency on offense, they would easily put themselves in better opportunities to win. For the time being, Ryan McDonagh (D) is day-to-day and will be crucial to their defense.
Calgary Flames Preview
The Flames finally landed a win after six straight losses. Their most recent triumph was a 6-3 outing over the Seattle Kraken, as they landed four goals in the final period to get it done. In all of their losses, they only scored three goals once and have given up three goals or more each time.
They still have some work to do in the Pacific Division, as they are currently sixth in the standings. However, they will need to have an abundance of positive offense for them to succeed, as well as lock-down defense.
They are averaging 2.55 goals a game (27th best) and firing off 32.6 shots each contest. This has to be better moving forward for any chance at victory. Currently, Adam Ruzicka (C, day-to-day) and Andrew Mangiapane (LW, Out) are both key aspects to their lineup that could affect scoring.
The Flames’ defense is also struggling, as they allow opponents to average 3.64 goals per game (25th best) on 28.5 shots. This will need to change drastically as well if they want chances at improving, especially with their offense having issues staying afloat in games.
