MLB Game of the Day 7/25: Pittsburgh Pirates vs. San Diego Padres

There are plenty of MLB games for betting in Tennessee. In California, an exciting clash awaits as the Pittsburgh Pirates (44-56) go head-to-head against the San Diego Padres (48-53) in the second game of their thrilling three-game series. Pittsburgh Pirates Preview

The Pirates have gone 3-2 over their last five games, including a win against the Padres in game one of this series. This marks the fourth victory against the Padres, who have failed to win each time they have played. Rich Hill takes the mound, but is 7-9 with an ERA of 4.84 and WHIP of 1.45.

Their stats are not the most attractive, but they are able to get the job done from time to time. Their batting average of .238 is solid, but they allow their opponents to bat .252.

They do a solid job at getting on-base, with a percentage at .314. They make attempts at scoring opportunities with an ERA of 4.54, but it could use improvement.

The Pirates have dropped to last in the NL Central and are 11.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers. They are 3-7 over their last 10 games and are 21-30 on the road. In addition, they are 39-40 as the underdog.

San Diego Padres Preview

The Padres are 2-3 in their last five performances and are currently on a two game skid. They started off game one of this series with a home run in the first inning, but then eventually allowed the game to end up 8-4. Blake Snell is expected to be on the mound but is 6-8 (2.67 ERA, 1.28 WHIP).

Their batting averages are slightly better in comparison to the Pirates, as they put up .235 and allowing .239. While their offense is about the same on paper, their pitching might make a difference for game two.

They are a little stronger at getting on base, with an average of .324. They are also slightly better with their ERA, sitting at 3.81 and shows they usually make the most of their scoring opportunities.

The Padres are fourth in the NL West and are 10 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers. They have gone 4-6 over their last 10 games. Also, they are 34-42 as the favorite and are 25-24 at home.
