Mississippi State Bulldogs Preview
The Bulldogs are currently on a two-game win streak and look to claim their third in a row. Their last performance was a 7-3 showing against the Arkansas Razorbacks, which was one of the lowest scoring games of the college football season.
They produce 351.1 total yards a game and have 203.0 derived from passes. They are currently allowing 367.3 total yards from opponents, with 239.7 coming from passing yards. Closing the gap here would be beneficial to their chances at winning games.
Despite a slightly negative difference between total yards, the Bulldogs create 26.8 points per game and allow 25.7. Changing quarterbacks in the middle of the season is tough for any team and it could be the difference in this game. This point differential is a little too close for comfort, so they will need to make adjustments here.
Starting quarterback Will Rogers might still be out with a shoulder injury and can change their look on offense. Instead, Mike Wright will likely get the start again for his second game in a row. In his performance against the Razorbacks, he completed 8-12 passes, had 85 yards, and compiled a touchdown along with an interception.
Auburn Tigers Preview
The Tigers have not won a game since the middle of September, as they are currently on a four-game skid. Their most recent defeat was a 28-21 battle against the Ole Miss Rebels. Despite being tied at halftime, the Rebels eventually pulled away.
Their offense has not been the worst in SEC play, as they average 337.0 total yards and have 186.0 come from rushing. Their defense, however, has been lacking since they allow 371.7 total yards and have their opponents average 214.0 of those yards from passing.
When it comes to scoring, their margins are slightly more appealing than the Bulldogs’. They average 26.7 points per game and give up 23.8, making this a little more breathing room in comparison to the Bulldogs.
Quarterback Payton Thorne will get an opportunity to end the losing streak against a team that is having issues on offense. So far, he has compiled 845 yards, five touchdowns, and turned it over five times with interceptions. His QBR is at 56.0, which makes him the 79th-best in that regard.
