Minnesota Vikings Preview
The Vikings were able to keep it close against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers despite losing 20-17. Their offense was not bad, but they allowed too many opportunities for the Bucs to take the lead.
They were able to put up 385 total yards, with an overwhelming amount (344) of those yards coming from passing plays. On defense, they allowed 246 total yards and had 173 of those from passing. These are solid differentials, but they will have to be better against the Eagles.
The Vikings had a solid 2022 campaign, as they finished 13-4 in the NFC North. Their loss to the Giants in the NFL Wild Card round was tough and one they are aiming to overcome this season to get back for a chance at the playoffs.
They have a great opportunity with the roster they currently have. Their defense will be the biggest test heading into tough matchups like this one.
Philadelphia Eagles Preview
The Eagles recently defeated the New England Patriots 25-20 to kick start their season. However, they came out with 16 points in the first quarter to make it appear as if they were going to blow out the Eagles but could not do much damage after that.
They landed 267 total yards, with 170 coming from passing plays. On the defensive end, they allowed the Patriots to have 392 yards and 316 came from passing. This is nowhere near the level they need to be on and it is surprising that they even won this game.
The defending champions finished 14-3 last season in the NFC East. They have a long way to go if they want a shot at repeating as NFL champions. Their particular division is respectable in the event they do not win as many games, but they still need to do better.
Jalen Hurts will also need to do a better job being aggressive on offense and moving the ball down field, but this was his first game since last season. He did not play in the preseason to avoid unnecessarily being injured.
