Minnesota Vikings Preview

The Vikings recently took care of the Green Bay Packers 24-10 in their most recent victory. Quarterback Kirk Cousins added two touchdowns for the Vikings to help push them along to victory. Their biggest lead of the game was 24-3 when the Vikings scored 14 points in the third quarter.

Even though they had a poor start to the season, they have an opportunity to put themselves on the right path. On top of that, they are now second in the NFC North and have great momentum on their side.

Their point margins are pretty thin since they did not have great success to start the year. However, they are slightly improving with 21.9 points per game while allowing 20.3 from their opponents. They also put up 367.5 total yards and give up 345.0 per game.

Cousins (18 TD, 5 INT) is having a phenomenal year, but that all quickly came to a halt when he tore his Achilles and had to have surgery. Jaren Hall is now expected to make the start in place of Cousins.

Atlanta Falcons Preview

The Falcons moved back to .500 when they were defeated 28-23 by the Tennessee Titans. The Titans sent out a rookie quarterback, Will Levis) who threw four touchdowns, but the Falcons offense did not come alive until the fourth quarter when they scored 14 points.

The Falcons, despite their struggles, are still first in the NFC South. This will be a competitive race to the end of the season, so any wins they can accumulate now will help them stay on top. However, their offense must improve or they risk losing the top spot in the division.

Their offense has struggled under Desmond Ridder, as they average 17.3 points per game and have 363.5 total yards. Defensively, they allow teams to put up 20.1 points per game and have 309.5 total yards each time they play.

Ridder will sit this one out and instead Taylor Heinicke (1 TD, 0 INT) will get the start here. Heinicke started the second half of the Titans matchup after Ridder (6 TD, 6 INT) was checked for a concussion. He was cleared to play, but Ridder’s season has been plagued with turnovers and low scoring opportunities.
