Miami Dolphins Preview
The Dolphins have won their last two matchups while at home, with their recent win being a 42-21 blowout against the winless Carolina Panthers. Surprisingly, the Panthers ended the first quarter with a 14-0 lead, but then gave up 21 unanswered points in the second to lose all momentum.
They have been clicking on both offense and defense to start the year. They are currently on top of the AFC East and have a great outlook for the rest of the year. Despite their only loss to the Buffalo Bills, they appear to have regrouped and might be better positioned than before.
They have been scoring at an attractive rate, with 37.2 points per game. On defense, they are allowing 26.0 points per game, which is solid, but they could look to do better. Compared to the Eagles, this is an appealing scenario to be in.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been impressive at handling this offense. He has put up 1,876 yards, 14 touchdowns, and only turned it over three times with interceptions. His QBR is at 74.7, which ranks third in the league.
Philadelphia Eagles Preview
The Eagles just suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the New York Jets. While the game finished 20-14, it arguably could have been worse since the Eagles failed to score at all in the second half. This cannot happen again while competing against a better team.
So why did the Eagles suffer a huge upset? It could be due to QB Jalen Hurts poor performance, with just one touchdown and three interceptions. His only touchdown was a rushing one, as he could not connect to receivers in the end zone.
By season totals, they are solid offensively. They have averaged 25.8 points per game. However, their defense is not far behind at 20.7 per game, showing that they have allowed teams to hang close.
Jalen Hurts has now slid back to the 10th spot in the league for his QBR of 59.9. He is essentially handing out a touchdown for every interception he throws, with seven each on the year. He also has 1,542 yards, and is about an entire game’s worth behind his former teammate.
