Memphis Grizzlies Preview

The Grizzlies were able to claim their second win of the season, a 105-101 outing over the Los Angeles Clippers. Desmond Bane (26.5 PPG) came up big again with 27 points and they were able to come away with one of the more surprising victories of their season so far.

They are sitting fifth in the Southwest Division and 15th overall in the Western Conference standings. Xavier Tillman (8.3 PPG, 7.5 REB) is questionable for this matchup and it could make a difference without his impact on the court.

The Grizzlies offense has been consistently averaging 108.6 points per game, with an offensive efficiency rating coming in at 106.3. This ranks 27th and 29th, respectively in the league, for their ability to score and take care of the basketball each possession.

On the other end of the floor, their defense allows 114.1 points per game and ranks 17th. Their defensive rating and ability to slow teams down is at 111.7, which is 12th-best in the league. If they can make the Lakers play at their pace, they have a good chance at winning.

Los Angeles Lakers Preview

The Lakers have won their last two games and are seeking another quality win at home. Their recent positive momentum was a 116-110 outing over the Portland Trail Blazers, without LeBron James (25.2 PPG, 8.4 REB).

They are currently third in the Pacific Division and eighth in the West overall. They might not have James for this matchup or Anthony Davis (23.9 PPG, 12.0 REB), as both are a game time decision. While they could be competitive without them in this game, it would definitely impact their chances against a hungry Grizzlies team.

They average 111.0 points per game (20th) and have an offensive rating of 108.8 (26th). This shows they are not consistently able to keep the ball safe on offensive possessions and make the most of their scoring opportunities. However, this ranks better than the Grizzlies.

On defense, they give up 115.9 points each game (21st) and have a defensive rating of 113.6 (16th). To some degree, they are able to keep their opponents within reach on defense. If James and Davis are not available, this will definitely hurt their chances on both ends of the floor.
