LSU Tigers Preview
The Tigers had a nail-biter of a win against the Arkansas Razorbacks 34-31 in their last outing. They capped off their game with a field goal with just five seconds left. They cannot allow this one to be close, as both teams have the ability to close out narrow margin games.
They have been producing a monstrous 530 yards a game, with 338.3 coming from passing yards. They are allowing 360.3, which 228 is from opposing passing yards. This margin of safety should do them well against teams that have issues defending.
They are putting up 42.8 points a game and allow 25 from their opposition. These will likely be much closer since both teams match up well on paper. In fact, their stats have a bit of an outlier with their explosion on offense against the Grambling Tigers (72-10) a few games back.
You could not ask for a more efficient quarterback in Jayden Daniels, who is having a great season so far. He has 1,296 yards, 12 touchdowns, and only two interceptions. His quarterback rating is at 82.8, which puts him at 13th best among others in the nation.
Ole Miss Rebels Preview
The Rebels just suffered their first defeat of the year, which was a 24-10 showing against the Alabama Crimson Tide. They made it a respectable game, as they led 7-6 at halftime, but failed to produce significant offense in the second half.
Their total yards a game is 470.3, with 323.5 coming from passes. They allow slightly less than the Tigers do, at 351.8 total yards and 226.3 from passing plays. This will be another key test in their team’s ability to score against a good defensive team.
They are averaging 42 points per game and pushing their opponents away at 18.5. However, this also has an outlier like the Tigers, with a 73-7 win over the Mercer Bears to start the season.
Quarterback Jaxson Dart is right behind Daniels in the QBR ratings at 82.4 (14th best in nation). He is doing well, with 1,096 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions. His performance will be key here, as he did not provide much in the game against the Crinson Tide.
