LSU Tigers Preview
The Tigers finished second in the SEC West with a 10-4 record last year. With 15 returning players on this year’s roster, they have an opportunity to have another strong season with familiarity among the starters.
They consistently averaged 34.5 points per match, racking up a total of 485 points, which included 65 touchdowns. Their defense proved formidable, only allowing opponents to score an average of 22.5 points, presenting difficulties when competing against formidable adversaries.
They will be without defensive tackle Maason Smith, who received an improper benefit in 2021 for an autograph signing. He will not be playing against the Tigers for the second time. He had a season-ending leg injury in their game last season and would have missed a game later in the year for his suspension, but he got injured.
Jayden Daniels returns at quarterback for his senior year and it could prove to be pivotal for this matchup. He threw two touchdowns and completed 25 of his 34 passes last time both teams met.
FSU Seminoles Preview
The Seminoles capped off their 2022 season with a six-game win streak to place second in the ACC with a 10-3 record. Currently, expert opinions believe they will win the conference this year.
These two teams are competing against one another again early within the season. Last year, the Seminoles got the best of the Tigers with a 24-23 victory in Baton Rouge.
Boasting a lineup that retains 17 starters from the previous season, they are primed for continued supremacy. Their offensive prowess was evident, averaging an impressive 36.1 points per game, resulting in a total of 469 points and 62 touchdowns. On the defensive side, they excelled by holding opponents to a mere 20.6 points per game.
Jordan Travis earned the start once again at quarterback after having an excellent campaign last year. Against the Tigers last year, he threw two touchdowns and completed 20 out of 33 passes.
