Los Angeles Rams Preview
The Rams were recently defeated 24-17 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Rams had a 17-10 lead at one point, but gave away 14 points total in the fourth quarter without an answer.
In their losses, they have kept games within nine points or less. In those games they averaged 17.5 points per game, but gave up 23.3. It appears their offense had bad days in each one of those instances.
The Rams are now third in the NFC West and a handful of games already behind the leading San Francisco 49ers. Their issues have been on both sides of the ball, as they average 22.1 points per game and allow 20.1. If they can find a way to be more consistent, their issues would likely diminish.
Their quarterback, Matthew Stafford (7 TD, 6 INT), needs to find a dominant performance soon for their sake. He has 1,908 yards and currently ranks 16th with a QBR of 60.3. While his offensive numbers have been solid, he will need to limit his mistakes.
Dallas Cowboys Preview
The Cowboys are coming off of a 20-17 victory on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers. They were able to score 10 points in the fourth quarter to help inch them ahead. This put them back on track after a 42-10 defeat against the 49ers in the previous game.
They are still aiming for a quality season and have so far maintained those standards. However, they have two bad losses on their resume that arguably should not have happened, or at least been closer contests.
Despite recent struggles, they are second in the NFC East and a few games back from the leading Philadelphia Eagles. This matchup should prove to be another test against a struggling team that was once a Super Bowl champ a few seasons back. Currently, they average 25.7 points per game and give up 16.7, making this a favorable differential.
QB Dak Prescott (6 TD, 4 INT) is having a good season so far, but should aim for less turnovers. He has a QBR that stands at 61.7 and puts him ninth-best in the league. He has also contributed much less yards than the Rams’ Stafford at 1,333, which could play a role.
