Las Vegas Raiders Preview

The Raiders had a disappointing loss last week against the Chicago Bears, which ended their previous two-game win streak on the season. This was a 30-12 defeat, which made it worse since the Bears started a rookie quarterback (Tyson Bagent). However, the Raiders were also playing without their starting quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo (7 TD, 8 INT).

Backup QB Brian Hoyer gave his best effort here, but was unable to produce a passing touchdown and had two interceptions. Thankfully, Garoppolo is back in the lineup for this matchup. He has 1,079 yards on the year and has a QBR of 45.2 that ranks 22nd in the league.

Despite the return of their starting quarterback in the lineup, they still struggle on offense. The Raiders average 16.0 points per game and average 300.4 total yards. Surprisingly, they are still second in the AFC West with this output.

Defensively, they give up 23.0 points per game and allow teams to put up 328.6 total yards a game. They must do a better job here if they want chances at success.

Detroit Lions Preview

The Lions recently suffered their worst loss of the season, which was a 38-6 outing against the Baltimore Ravens. They had already given up 35 points before they put points on the board in the fourth quarter, making this game way out of reach.

QB Jared Goff (11 TD, 4 INT) added another interception without a touchdown in their recent loss. He has done well this season though, with 1,902 yards and a QBR of 67.1 that ranks sixth in the league. Last year, he finished with a QBR ranking fifth in the league, making him quite consistent and easy to count on.

Their success has put them on top of the NFC North and a chance to blow by their previous record (9-8) from just a year ago. They are averaging 24.9 points per game with 390.1 total yards a contest. This is a bit more appealing than what the Raiders offer.

On defense, they slow teams down slightly to 21.6 points per game and 335.0 total yards. Their defense must step up here if they want better separation between the row averages.
