Dallas Cowboys Preview

The Cowboys recently snapped their two-game losing streak with a 20-19 victory over the Detroit Lions. They have gone 3-2 in their last five, but now have an opportunity to finish strong and potentially claim the division.

A win here would seal their fate entirely with the NFC East and they would clinch the division. They are currently tied with the Philadelphia Eagles, but if they remained tied after finishing their last game, the Cowboys win in the tiebreaker based on their record against common opponents throughout the season. If the Cowboys lose and the Eagles win their game, the Eagles would clinch.

They are averaging 29.4 points per game and showcase the third best offense in the league. On defense, they are allowing other teams to score 19.1 points per game and ranking fifth in the league. This is a healthy separation between the two averages and a huge component to their success.

Dak Prescott (32 TD, 8 INT) will do everything he can to make sure they are successful. He currently ranks fourth in total yards (4,237), first in touchdowns, and second overall with a QBR at 70.5. He also has a pass completion rate of 68.4.

Washington Commanders Preview

The Commanders have lost their last seven games, which included a 45-10 defeat against the Cowboys back in November. Their previous defeat was a 27-10 outing against the San Francisco 49ers, which also marked their seventh game in a row where they have allowed 27 points or more.

They are obviously out of playoff contention, but have an opportunity to spoil the Cowboys’ momentum in the playoffs. The problem is, the chances of that happening are slim based on the way they have played this season.

The Commanders’ offense is averaging 19.9 points a game and ranking 23rd in the league. On the other side, their defense is allowing 30.0 points from opposing teams a game and ranking last. This is completely opposite of what the Cowboys are averaging and will likely not bode well for their chances.

Sam Howell (20 TD, 19 INT) has put up 3,793 total yards this season and a pass completion rate of 63.1. He also has a QBR of 42.2, ranking him 23rd in the league.
