Colorado Avalanche Preview

The Avalanche have found success in their last three games, most notably in their recent 6-3 war against the Dallas Stars. Six different players from the Avalanche were able to score a goal, which showcases their versatility on offense.

In their last three wins combined, they have obtained 6.3 goals and allowed 2.0 per game. This kind of separation between the averages is likely why they are second in the Central Division, as they have been able to consistently dominate. These wins were not against scrub teams either, as each win was against a fourth place ranking in their respective division opponent or better.

Overall, they are averaging 3.81 goals per contest and are led by scoring leader Mikko Rantanen with 11 goals this season. His output offensively ranks ninth in the league, which makes him a threat to teams that have difficulty in defending.

The Avalanche give up 3.06 goals on defense per matchup, which is a bit unsettling since they do a good job on the offensive. However, they have recently held teams to consistent lows that make them look much better on paper. This is especially key in power play situations, as their defense sports an 85.9 penalty kill percentage.

Nashville Predators Preview

The Predators have gone 2-5 in the month of November thus far, but they recently snapped their four-game losing streak when they defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-2. Cole Smith added two goals to help aid in the quest for a win.

Ryan O’Reilly leads the team in scoring with eight goals secured this season, tying him 24th among others in the league. Despite their issues this month, they are still hanging onto the seventh spot in the Central Division.

Looking at their recent losing streak, they were only able to average 3.00 goals a game and gave up 5.00. Per season stats, they average the same offensively and even get off 30.7 shot attempts.

However, their defense lately has been atrocious and far exceeding their season average of 3.38 goals from opponents. They are also able to slow teams down in power play situations and that could make an impact here, as they have a penalty kill percentage at 71.2.
