Cleveland Browns Preview
The Browns were successful in their Week 1 venture, which was a 24-3 victory against the Cincinnati Bengals. Their defense smothered quarterback Joe Burrow and did not let him have many opportunities to score.
They put up 360 total yards, with 206 coming from their rushing game. They allowed 157 total yards on defense, with 82 of them coming from passing plays. This is a great difference between the two, which will play a role in this matchup.
The Browns finished last in the AFC North with a 7-10 record, which trailed the leading Bengals and Steelers last year. They are off to a great start to take over their division if they can accumulate another win against a divisional rival.
With quarterback Deshaun Watson leading the offense, they seem to have a spark to their morale. Last season they were operating with Jacoby Brissett, who now plays for the Washington Commanders. This is a good team if they continue to hold their opponents down defensively.
Pittsburgh Steelers Preview
The Steelers were unable to land a win in their season opener, which was a blowout 30-7 defeat against the San Francisco 49ers. They will need better production on both sides of the ball if they want a shot at their first win.
They accumulated a total of 273 yards, with 232 of those gained through passing plays. Defensively, they yielded 408 yards to the 49ers, with 220 of them stemming from passing plays. This performance falls significantly short of the standard required for success this season.
The Steelers finished 9-8, which is only one spot ahead of the Browns last year. They have an opportunity to put that to test early in the season, but must fix their mistakes from a week prior.
They are still in the process of operating without Ben Roethlisberger at quarterback, as he was at the helm for 18 years. Last season, they had Mitch Trubisky and now they are using Kenny Pickett. This will be the second season they are without him and need to figure out their style of play consistently.
Betting Odds
ZenSports’ sportsbook offers comprehensive NFL betting options in Tennessee, with the Browns holding a slight favoritism in this matchup. Current market indicators suggest a 58.9 percent probability of the Browns emerging victorious.
Pittsburgh Steelers: +110
Spread: +2.5 (-108)
Cleveland Browns: -130
Spread: -2.5 (-108)
Totals: Over 38 (-110), Under 38 (-110)
Around this time last year, the Browns defeated the Steelers 29-17. Both teams now have different quarterbacks in place, which will make an impact on this matchup offensively. This should be an entertaining and close game, as indicated by the current odds.
