Cincinnati Bengals Preview
The Bengals had their positive four-game win streak snapped with a 30-27 defeat to the Houston Texans. The Texans secured their victory with a last second field goal by Matt Ammendola, but the Bengals’ failures were on defense as they allowed 544 total yards to create too many scoring opportunities.
They sit at the fourth spot in the AFC North, which is where they have been most of the season. However, their recent win streak has shown that they are capable of climbing further into the division.
The Bengals average 20.2 points per game and rank 20th in the league. Their defense allows 21.3 points per game, which ranks 16th in the league. Making a positive gap between these two will be key, as they have struggled to separate themselves from other teams all year.
Quarterback Joe Burrow (14TD, 6 INT) has 2,208 yards and a completion rate of 67.0 percent. His QBR is at 53.8, which puts him at 18th-best in the league. Against Baltimore this season, he had two touchdowns, an interception, and had a completion are of 65.9 percent.
Baltimore Ravens Preview
The Ravens also had their four-game win streak broken, with a 33-31 loss to the Cleveland Browns. The Ravens were up by as many as 14 points and had a 17-9 halftime lead before allowing the Browns to claw their way back.
Even with the recent loss, they are still on top of the AFC North and have some distance ahead of the Bengals. They have already defeated the Bengals earlier this year with a 27-24 performance, but they cannot allow an improved Bengals team to have positive momentum early.
The Ravens have excelled on offense with 27.0 points per game (fifth), but have done even better with the best ranked defense in the league in allowing 15.7 points each game. This is a health separation between the two averages, which gives them a good amount of room for error.
QB Lamar Jackson (10 TD, 5 INT) has been steadily improving since the beginning of the year, with 2,177 yards and a QBR of 61.4 that ranks 12th in the league. He currently has a completion rate of passes at 70.3 percent, but did even better against the Bengals earlier this year at 72.7 percent.
