Tennessee MMA Betting Introduction

The state of Tennessee is relatively newer to MMA betting and the sport in general. Since 2015, there have been plenty of professional licensed events to occur in the MMA realm in Tennessee.

An abundance of excellent fighters have come from Tennessee. The most notable MMA fighters from Tennessee include Quinton Jackson, Jake Shields, and Muhammed Lawal.

While there are not necessarily professional MMA leagues based in Tennessee, there are a few that stand out to bet on. The UFC, Bellator, and PFL are some of the most popular MMA betting options that occur in Tennessee.

Different Types of MMA Bets

MMA betting offers various bet types suitable for all bettors, regardless of their experience. If you are new to Tennessee MMA betting, these bet types might initially seem confusing. However, take some time to explore and understand how each of these MMA bet types works to make informed wagers.

Moneyline Bets

Moneyline bets are the most straightforward to grasp. Your only concern is selecting the winner of the fight.

Although the numbers might appear perplexing, we will guide you through it. Below is an example of a moneyline MMA bet:

Fighter A: -200

Fighter B: +170

The fighter with the minus (-) sign in front of their number is considered the favorite. To break it down further, if you bet $200 on Fighter A and they win, you will receive $100 in winnings on top of your initial $200 wager. This means a total of $300 is returned to you.

Fighter B, indicated by the plus (+) sign in front of their number, is considered the underdog. In this scenario, if you bet $100 on Fighter B and they secure a victory, you will receive $170 in winnings along with your original $100 wager, totaling $270 returned to you. The plus sign signifies that you stand to earn more in profits compared to your initial wager if the underdog emerges victorious.

Total Rounds Bets

If you have ever heard of the term over/under, this is the same thing for total rounds MMA betting. You are placing a bet on whether or not a fight will last a certain amount of rounds, to the nearest halfway mark.

For example, let us say a battle between two fighters has a total rounds bet of 2.5 (Over/-130, Under/+105). The (+/- ) numbers are an example of what the wager is worth, so remember the moneyline bets. You can either bet on the under, meaning the fight will last less than two rounds, or over that amount for three rounds.

This could work in your favor if both fighters are defensive, which usually leads to a decision. Two aggressive fighters specializing in knockouts or submissions typically end fights early.

Method of Victory Bets

The method of victory bet is a great bet for those that are keen to understand how certain fighters operate. You really need to know the strengths and weaknesses of both fighters to get a good idea of how the fight is going to end.

This bet means you think it will end in a knockout, submission, decision, draw, or no contest. There are plenty of stats out there to paint a picture on how a fighter could win or lose, but this arguably takes a decent amount of information to get this right.

If both fighters are knockout artists, it is safe to say that it could end in some form of a knockout. However, this changes greatly when you pair a defensive fighter with a submission artist or anything else.

Futures Bets

Futures bets are wagers placed on future events, as the name suggests. In the context of MMA betting, these bets often revolve around predicting which fighters will become champions in specific divisions at a designated time in the future, such as by the end of the year.

Similar to the standard moneyline bets, futures bets also use the moneyline format. Therefore, understanding how to read the moneyline odds remains crucial when placing these bets.

Parlay Bets

Parlay MMA bets allow you to unlock the full potential of your wagers with a strategic approach to amplify your betting influence while investing minimal funds. By choosing at least two bet types on a single betting slip that you believe will prove correct, you can elevate your potential returns to new heights.

There are usually a handful of fights in a given event and you could make them all a parlay with mixed options. Keep in mind that every single bet you put on that slip must be correct. Otherwise, you lose all of your investment.
