Atlanta Falcons Preview

The Falcons were recently able to snap their three-game losing streak when they defeated the New Orleans Saints 24-15. Now, along with the Saints, they are tied for first in the NFC South and have an opportunity to extend their footing.

In their last three losses, the Falcons had close encounters so at least these were not blowouts. In fact, they averaged 24.6 points as allowed 28.0, with their worst defeat being a 28-23 showing against the Tennessee Titans a few games back.

The Falcons’ offense has slipped in the last handful of games, as they now average 19.4 points a game and rank 22nd in the league. Defensively, they give up 21.1 points each game and rank 14th. Their defense will be their saving grace as the rest of this year unfolds.

Quarterback Desmond Ridder (7TD, 8 INT) is back at the start once again after sitting against the Minnesota Vikings and some against the Arizona Cardinals. After their Bye week, he earned the role back and was able to lead them to victory. His QBR is at 38.4, which puts him at 22nd in the league among other starting QB’s.

New York Jets Preview

The Jets are riding a four-game losing streak as they circle back to their home field. Their most recent defeat was a 34-13 performance against the Miami Dolphins, with a 17-6 deficit at the half that dictated the flow of the game.

Their last four losses have been disappointing, as the Jets are averaging 9.3 points and giving up 27.3. This insane difference between the two averages is hard to compete with. Their only close game recently was a 16-12 defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders a few weeks back.

The Jets offense ranks 30th in the league with 14.8 points a game. Their defense has been slightly less than average with allowing 21.8 points per game, ranking 18th.

QB Zach Wilson (6 TD, 7 INT) has accumulated 1,944 yards, but will need an impressive performance at home for the Jets to have a chance at succeeding. His QBR is at 30.7, which puts him at 30th in the league and at a slight disadvantage.
