Atlanta Braves Preview

The Braves are currently on a three-game win streak and are on the verge of sweeping this series. Their most recent success was a 6-2 triumph over the Astros in game two, which marked their second game in a row of scoring six runs.

One area of interest will be pitching and both teams arguably have their weakest pitchers at play for this game. Max Fried (1-0) will be on the mound and has an ERA of 8.74, along with a WHIP at 1.85.

Orlando Arcia leads them offensively with a batting average at .368. Marcell Ozuna continues to accumulate other opportunities, such as seven home runs and 22 RBIs. Together, they pose a threat for the Astros.

They are doing well offensively with a batting average at .302. This shows they make the most out of each opportunity at the plate, as well as a slugging percentage at .491.

Defensively they are solid, as they allow their opponents to average .248 at the plate. If their offense is not as strong this game, their defense will need to step it up.

Houston Astros Preview

The Astros have gone 2-3 in their last five games and are currently riding a two-game losing streak. After a successful 8-5 finish in game three of their series with the Texas Rangers, they have fallen flat in these first two against the Braves.

J.P. France (0-2) has yet to land a win and will get a great opportunity to stand his ground when starting. He has some work to do, especially with an ERA at 8.22 and a WHIP at 1.89.

Jose Altuve leads with a batting average at .382 and has earned five home runs. His presence in the lineup is massive and he will need to capitalize on every opportunity to give the Astros a chance.

The Astros are doing well at the plate, as they consistently average .269. Their on base percentage comes in slightly lower than the Braves’ at .340, but remains competitive.

As for their defense, they are allowing their opponents to average .269 at the plate too, which cancels out their offense so to speak. Their pitching in this performance will be heavily watched if France struggles early.
