Philadelphia Flyers Preview
The Flyers are currently riding a four-game win streak heading into this matchup and 4-1 over their previous five. Their last success was a 5-2 performance over the Colorado Avalanche, where Travis Konecny added two goals to help them reach their triumph. They have now scored four or more goals three times over their last four wins.
Konecny leads the team in goals (16) and points (23). For his goal amount, he ranks tied for sixth among other scorers in the league. Travis Sanheim showcases leadership in total assists with 17, which also provides the team with much needed help that has pushed their averages higher lately.
The Flyers have steadily moved away from being a .500 team and have a great opportunity to improve. Their offense has been solid, as they average 3.00 goals and 32.6 shot attempts each game. One key area of weakness has been their power plays, as they currently sport a percentage at 12.0.
Their defense has been another key aspect to their success. They are slowing teams to 2.70 goals and 28.3 shots per game. A big advantage over the Predators is their penalty kill percentage, which stands at 86.2.
Nashville Predators Preview
The Predators are also 4-1 over their last five, but are back on track with a recent win. This was a 2-1 outing over the Montreal Canadiens, with Colton Sissons adding both goals for their success. They have been a solid threat offensively lately, which has helped them win key matchups.
Filip Forsberg remains the focal point for their offensive strategies, leading the team in goals (14), points (31), and assists (17). Can his offensive prowess be sufficient to overcome the Flyers?
This will likely be an offensive battle between these two teams. The Predators are slightly ahead of the Flyers on offense with 3.07 goals and 30.6 shot attempts averaged per game. Their power play percentage is key here, as it is higher than the Flyers’ at 21.2.
Defensively, they are allowing their opponents to average 3.07 goals and take 30.8 shots a game. At this rate, they essentially break even with what they do offensively. Their penalty kill percentage stands at 76.7, which is also a bit below what the Flyers produce.
