Nashville Predators Preview
The Predators started off their recent performance against the Vancouver Canucks off great with a 2-1 lead after the first period. However, they quickly fell apart when the Canucks led the way on offense to finish the game 5-2 in their favor. This marks the second loss to the Canucks in a week’s span.
They have now dropped back to fifth in the Central Division and need to find some consistency soon. Their issues on the ice have come on both sides of the puck and they must figure it out soon if they want to make a case down the line for the playoffs.
Offensively, they lack a dominant force as they average 2.78 goals a game. They also do solid in getting 30.8 shots a game, which needs to be a bit more aggressive if they want more scoring oppositions. This is the driving factor to their success, as they must generate better offense.
The Predators defense has arguably been both good and bad. When they slow teams down below their 2.89 goals a game, they look great. They also allow opponents to average 28.8 shots a game, which is not bad.
Seattle Kraken Preview
The Kraken recently snapped their two-game losing skid when they defeated the Tampa Bay Lighting 4-3 in overtime. Surprisingly, the Kraken had a 3-1 to start the game, but nearly let it all slip away and needed the overtime to claim back their success.
They still have a great opportunity to turn their season around. They are currently fifth in the Pacific Division and could show a spark in their season with a dominating win here. However, they need to address their issues on both sides of the puck.
The offense needs to improve dramatically, as 2.40 goals a game will not cut it to find success. They get 31.9 shots a game, which is plenty, so they need to figure out a way to be more accurate in their attempts.
Defensively, the Kraken are another story that plagues their momentum. They have allowed teams to average 3.30 against them and get off 32.6 shots a game as a result. Finding ways to slow down the Predators will be crucial in their attempts at success.
