Auburn Tigers Preview

The Tigers finally snapped their four-game losing streak and landed their first win in the SEC with their 27-13 performance against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. They were strong to start the game, as they were up 24-3 at the half.

Now that they are at .500 in the SEC West, they have an opportunity to climb further in the standings. They are currently fifth, but are also aiming at a bowl appearance towards the end of the season.

Their offense looked a lot better in their recent win, which now shows they average 25.1 points per game with 350.4 total yards per contest. On defense, they are allowing teams to average 25.8 points per game and allow 373.4 total yards.

Tigers’ quarterback Payton Thorne (8 TD, 5 INT) ranks 52nd in the nation with a QBR of 63.9. In this season, the junior is completing 64.1 percent of his passes, which is his highest yet in his career for Auburn.

Vanderbilt Commodores Preview

The Commodores are stuck in a rut and cannot seem to find success. They are currently on a seven-game losing streak after winning their first two games of the season. Their recent defeat was a 33-7 outing against the Ole Miss Rebels and were down 26-0 at the half.

They are still seventh in the SEC East and will not have a chance to play in any bowl games this year. However, landing a win to break the losing streak is their main concern, as their offense needs to improve.

Offensively, they have done solid in a handful of their matchups to start the year to give them a bump in their stats as they average 25.4 points a game and have 335.7 total yards as a result. Their defense is what is struggling, since they allow 436.8 total yards a game and give up 34.2 points a contest.

The Commodores offense has primarily played QB AJ Swann (11 TD, 7 INT), who has 1,290 yards and a QBR of 33.1 that ranks 120th in the nation. They will need to find consistency somewhere, as they have played through three different QB’s this season already and have tried with Ken Seals and Walter Taylor.
