Oklahoma Sooners Preview

The Sooners blew out the Iowa State Cyclones with a 50-20 victory. They were up 40-20 at halftime, so they let off the gas a bit to work through their offense and test their defense. If they have anything like they did to start that game, this could be ugly for the Longhorns.

They have put up an impressive 510.0 total yards a game, with a heavy 352.4 coming from passing yards. They still allow 319.0 total yards from their opponents, in which 212.8 come from passing yards. Their defense will get a good test against the Longhorns.

Their offense is strong with 47.4 points per game. On defense, they have limited teams to just 10.8 each game. This level of differential will be key if they want to compete against the third best team in the nation.

Dillon Gabriel (QB) has had an incredible start to the season, ranking fifth in QBR with a rating of 89.4. He has compiled 1,593 yards, 15 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. This will be a big test if he can prove to be in the top five in the nation.

Texas Longhorns Preview

The Longhorns did not let up against the Kansas Jayhawks in their recent 40-14 victory. QB Quinn Ewers shined and helped keep the offense rolling until time ran out.

They stand out in their ability to amass an impressive total of 478.4 yards, with a substantial portion of 286.6 yards credited to their passing plays. On the defensive front they have limited their opponents to just 290.8 total yards, of which 196.2 yards came from passing plays.

Consistently, their offense posts an average of 36.0 points per game on the scoreboard, while their defense holds their opponents to a mere 12.8 points. Although this point differential is great, their offense will either have to be on another level or their defense must slow down the Sooners significantly to keep up.

Lately, the performance of Ewers has proven pivotal to their success. Thus far, he has accumulated 1,358 yards and 10 touchdowns, with just a single interception. Moreover, his QBR is an impressive 82.9, ranking as the 13th best in the nation.
