Waiver Wire Week 9

QBs:

  1. Taylor Heinicke, WAS
  2. Jared Goff, DET

Heinicke will be filling in for Carson Wentz, likely for the rest of the season given how Wentz has been playing. Heinicke is a well-liked player by his fellow Commanders, and has a solid supporting cast to throw to. He also doesn’t shy away from throwing deep.

Goff is an interesting one, as he put up back-to-back sub-par weeks against New England and the Cowboys, followed by a solid showing against the Dolphins. I expect his performance to increase considerably following the return of D’andre Swift. If someone in your league dropped Goff, now is the time to pick him up!

RBs:

  1. Tyler Allgeier, ATL
  2. D’Onta Foreman, CAR

As expected at this point in the season, both of the backs on this list are benefitting immensely from injuries and roster moves. Allgeier accounted for 16 of 23 Falcons rushes last week, and Allgeier is clearly taking a hold of the lead role. The only downside is he has caught 0 passes in his last three starts.

Foreman benefits from the McCaffrey trade, and it looks like his committee mate Chubba Hubbard will miss some time with an injury. I think Foreman sees the bulk of the carries moving forward, and can be started as a flex moving forward.

WRs:

  1. Marquez Valdez-Scantling, KC
  2. Allen Robinson, LAR

Scantling is a great pickup, especially given the recent chemistry he showed with Mahomes. He is always a deep threat, and the Chiefs need him more than ever without Tyreek.

A-Rob is an interesting case. As a Rams fan I hope they start targeting Robinson more often. He is too good to be used as a “clear out” receiver and to open up more room for Cooper Kupp. Following the bye, A-Rob came out hot, catching 5 for 54. He will be used more going forward, or the Rams will continue to suffer.

TEs

  1. Robert Tonyan, GB
  2. Juwan Johnson, NO

Tonyan is going to become a prized commodity by the end of the season. He is simply in too good of a position not to be. The Packers will not suck forever. They will catch their groove and Tonyan will catch a lot of passes too! Regardless, Aaron Jones is the real star of this offense but I think Tonyan is a league winner.

Juwan’s wife is a Tik Tok star, and I have to say she produces hilarious content, mocking the hate that is directed towards many NFL spouses. Does this make her husband a viable threat? No. Keep an eye on Juwan but keep a closer eye on their Tik Tok.

D/ST

  1. Jets D/ST
  2. Broncos D/ST

The Jets are T-5th in defense, and only rostered in 57.1% of ESPN leagues. They are for real, and they have the sauce! They also have a terrifying defensive line. The only downside is that Zach Wilson is a turnover machine – see this play.

The Broncos are 7th in D/ST and are only owned in 59% of leagues. The Broncos D is insanely good, and has a safe offense to further reduce their time on the field. If they are available, snag them!
