What a start to our Axie Infinity tournaments!

Last weekend, we dove deep into the realms of the Axieverse with the Battle of the Guilds.

The 64 player, single elimination tournament featured eight scholars from eight guilds, each battling it out as individuals for more than $5,000 worth of crypto prizes.

An event shaped around inter-guild competition is something we have been brainstorming for awhile here at ZenSports, and we were glad to bring this format to the Axie community!

The eight participating guilds were: SuperWhale, Axie School of Scholars, Lootsquad, Axie Academy, Generation Axie, Yield Guild Games, Swordfish, and Metat8!

All of these guilds and their members were excellent participants and competitors.

In the end, Metat8 and YGG rose above the rest – they were the only two guilds with scholars featured in the semi-final round.

Axie Infinity: Battle of the Guilds Recap

Like most ZenSports tournaments, many “favorites” were upset early in the tournament.

SuperWhale stars such as C A P, Russ, and Spamandrice failed to make it past the second round.

Other notable Axie leaderboard rankers, such as YGG’s Biggabbie and Metat8’s Xero also did not make it past the aforementioned stage.

This is not a knock on the players mentioned, but rather should be used to highlight some of the lesser know Axie players who rose to the challenge when it mattered most.

One particular “guppy” who rose to the occasion was Eyseben from Swordfish Guild. He defeated spamandrice, one of the most popular Axie creators on Twitch 2:1 in the first round of the event.

Eyseben did not make it past round two, but beating such a high-profile player is surely a win to remember!

As the winner bracket unfolded, it become more clear that YGG and Metat8 came ready to fight.

When the semi-final round began, two players from each guild remained: Sib and KingFischer from Metat8, and Ndar and Zeliaser from YGG.

Interestingly enough, both players were paired against their teammates. As Sib said before his match against KingFischer, “friendly fire :|”.

From the semis, KingFischer and Ndar advanced. This brought the two players to a best-of-five grand finals.

In this spectacle, Metat8’s Kingfischer advanced to an early two game lead, but Ndar refused to quit.

He took the final three games, as well as 2000 USDT, 2,000,000 SPORTS Tokens, and a free ZenSportsian along with him!
